When I try to create art, my mind always directs towards a common theme. With the focus being that of a self portrait, I immediately started attempting to identify ways to inadvertently represent inner qualities through new media. I focused on my ability to let my imagination get the better of myself, as thoughts and feelings build upon each other and evolve to one another. I thought of a kaleidoscope and how the colors and shapes evolve in random and variable ways. I used ten objects I found in my room and decided to formulate a kaleidoscopic self portrait to represent my ever-evolving imagination. The centerpiece is the colander, representative of my initial state. As the piece expands, so does my figurative "mind".
